A better understanding of iournalism was achieved through the help of their ad- visor, Sister Miriam Celeste. Workshops were attended in cities like Detroit and visits made to syndicated newspapers, such as, the Grand Rapids Press. Sport activities olter welcome relaxation The number of ski enthusiasts at West this year has obviously grown. Under the direction of Mr. Pettyplace, the Ski Club has tackled the slopes ot many Northern Michigan resorts. While some members show top ranking performance others iust plod along, but all enioy themselves in Michigan's Winter Wonderland. The Girls Tennis Club, not wanting to be outdone by any other club, swelled its membership, too. Judging by the enthusiasm and work put into this club, it is bound to have a successful season. Another girls sport club has been introduced to West this year. The Girls Volleyball Club, under the leadership of Miss Wilder, has defeated many teams of other schools. Our girls, not wishing to limit themselves to only a couple of sports, have formed the Girls Athletic Association through which many new sports will be taken up.
