Latin Club enlivens Latin customs The old Roman caste system, under the direc- tion of Sister Bernita Marie and Sister Mary Rosario, is being relived in our modern space age through the Latin Club. The club is divided into five Legions, each presided by two Senators. The activities of the different Legions are then co- ordinated by the consul. The plebians make up the body of each Legion and are served by the slaves who are candidates for admittance. Students advance from one level to another by earning points for various activities such as plays, reports, and proiects concerned with Roman life. l l Isn't he cool? exclaims Joe Schmitt.

Curious students gain insight into French culture Aside from the fact that membership in a club appeals strongly to most adolescents, there are cogent reasons for the existence of a French Club at West. The club enlivened the study of French for the students through many enioyable features of language study. These features in- cluded songs, games, slides ond plays. The club enacted favorites as Le Petit Chaperon Rouge, Au Cafe, and Guignol et Ses Amis. Under the guidance of Sister Marie Delourdes, the club met once a month and the meetings were conducted in French. Each meeting ended with a social of about ten minutes during which time the students were urged to speak in French.
