Glee Club swells in number The largest number of members ever enrolled in the Glee Club at West has made a tremendous contribution to the musical culture of the school. Sister Mary Claude has directed these 180 students onto success in the Christ- mas program and the spring concert. The Halleluiah Chorus culminated the Christmas program which exhibited the combined talents of the chorus and band. The spring concert consisted of several selections ranging from en- ioyable numbers such as, Had a lot o' help from the Lord and Fifty Nifty United States to more soul stirring arrangements as the chantey, Shenandoah and the Texan cowboy song, The Lone Prairie. The climax This is My Country intensified the patriotism expressed through- out the program. Sharing the spotlight with the choral groups is a select group of singers-the Madrigal Group. bllc with entertainment Rhythm, melody, harmony, tone-these produce the sounds of music. Combined with a knowledge of basic terms, band members produced fine displayes of talent all year. Under the direction of Mr. Wendlandt, valuable ex- perience in playing was gained by taking an active part in the Diocesan Band Festival, Michigan State Band and Orchestra Competition, Santa Claus and Youth Day pa- rades.
