I discovered that Wesley Rockwood is the good samaritan for all the little furry friends on Mars. Wes runs an animal hospital and Bessie Cronk acts as his secretary. I asked .Io if the schools were modern and she answered in the affirmative. She said that one of our old classmates, Donna Montgomery, is the teacher of Home Economics. She is getting some first-hand experience before she goes into her own home, which, by some reports, will happen soong of course, Donna always was a home girl. i The conversation even-tually turned to sports and I learned that Leonard Peck made his fortune early in life 'by playing professional basketball. He has won many championships and trophies and has earned a name in basketball that will go down in history along with the names of George Mikan, Alec Groza and other great athletes. Bill Gould and Mark Freeman have made a great deal of money, also. They own a modern recreation hall, where Mark teaches boxing and Bill teaches wrestling. You really have to have muscles to stay in that business. I asked about the children who were too young to go to school on Mars, and I found that Helen Curtis has taken the little people under her wing in a nursery school. Helen is married and has three children, so she is better able to understand the problems of youngsters. While Jo and I were still talking, Pilot George Marion appeared at the door and shouted, All aboard the rocket ship for New York City . Prophesy '- Class of 1950 It was june, 1960, and I was on my vacation in New York City. Since graduation I had been studying music and doing concert work in France, Italy, England, and Germany. How glad I was to be back in the good old United States and especially New York! I visited LaGuardia Field, and there I saw a rocket ship which was taking people on a sight- seeing tour to the Planet Mars. I decided to join the group of sight-seers, so I walked up to the ticket window, and whom did I discover selling tickets but Bill Plank, and is he a salesman! He said he was working to earn enough money to buy a dairy. I wished him good luck and headed for the rocket. The first person I encountered on the plane was the handsome, blonde pilot whom I remembered instantly as our Math Genius in school, George Marion. just as I saw him, who else should come into view but the brilliant, young radio man, Bob Bisha.I was really surprised because this is the last place l expected to see them. We had a most interesting visit and then it was time to take off, so I strapped myself in the seat and put my life in the hands of Pilot George. We landed on Mars in about three minutes, which was quite a fast trip. just about everyone in the Class of 1950 has settled there. I went looking around and found jo Blanchard in her attractive beauty shop. While I was getting a manicure, jo told me about some of our classmates. Carolyn Church, Anita Stewart and Marian Ekey own a large hospital on Mars with Marian as Head Nurse. They were reported as doing a thriving business. Ann Nicholl is working there as the Planet's great- est X-ray technician, while Don Getman is down on Earth building his dream house so that Ann and he can live happily ever after. The girls in the hospital are having competition on Earth from another hospital run by Susie Brown, Nancy Rice and Pauline Stevens. However, Pauline is leaving soon to join Robert Dionne in his automobile factory on Mars. David LaQuay and Robert started out as mechanics, but they invented a new, streamlined car which runs on waterj Thus, they rose to fame and fortune instantly. jo told me that jack Luther had been there the night before. jack is a great public speaker now, and has traveled all over the world delivering lectures. While we were talking, Carl Arnold ap- peared at the door selling encyclopedias. Carl is a married man now, and very well-to-do, bu-t he likes to keep busy so he decided to be a salesman. We just settled ourselves more comfortably in our chairs when a loud crash was heard. Jo was very calm and said it came from Charles StoFfel's Race Track. Charles owns the track and races cars. He has broken the world's record for speed and is quite proud of himself. I asked jo to turn on the radio so I could hear what the reception was like on the planet. We tuned in Station RSM and heard that Wendell Jaquith, our sailor boy, had been promoted to Admiral and that Lyle Raymond was the youngest man to be elected to the Senate. He is now Senator from New York State. It made us feel proud to have graduated with such intelligent people. jo and I resumed our conversation. I soon learned that Mayfred Yaddow and Irene Waite had their last names changed on the same day in a ceremony performed on Earth. Since their husbands have their contracting business on Mars, both families now live there side by side in model houses. It didn't seem possible that they had recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. Since this anni- versary is characterized by tin, Jo patronized the local salesman, Gerald Lewis, and bought both her friends some kitchen utensils. Gerald and Carl Arnold alternate their goods when their jobs get too boring. As I was after all the information I could get about the planet, I asked Jo about the fashions on Mars. She said there was little difference, because Donna Reed owned a large store on Mars and also one on Earth, so the styles were about the same. Donna commutes from store to store and has earn- ed the nickname of the busy blonde .
