Autumn — Cornin’ Around Again Jazzing Up, Cooling Off Fires Of Fall On August 25, 1987, the old school bell rang and students filed into their classes, despite the extreme heat in the rooms. The fall sports season was kicked off the following night at the Community Pep Rally and the year was officially underway. Back at school the next day, parking became a health risk as construction on the new stadium began. Students attended the Activities Fair, sponsored by Student Council, who also organized the Blood Drive and the Halloween Dance, to sign up for the year’s events. Our parents chatted with our teachers at Back-to-School Night, and a week later, we journeyed under the boardwalk” for Homecoming festivities. Discussion heated up at the Junior High when the Board of Education decided to move the freshmen to the high school in the fall of 1989, to place a 5.7 mill school levy on the February ballot, and to close an elementary school building; however, the Board decided to postpone that decision until a later date. A bonfire behind the school got everyone psyched for Senior Night, which was held on November 6. Miami University performed for us at a jazz assembly, and the whole community enjoyed the fall play. The Night of One-Act Plays, held at the Junior High auditorium. After all of this commotion, students were definitely ready for Thanksgiving break. 22 Activities

Applause, Applause For Guys £ Dolls' Carson, Kavouras Collaborate On First Musical; Audience Thrills Cast, Crew With Two Standing Ovations Under the direction of Pat Carson, Peter Kavouras, Yvonne Scheid and Mark Westfall, the bright lights and fancy dancing of New York City were brought to the West Carrollton Junior High Auditorium. On three separate nights, April 21. 22, and 23, high roller Sky Masterson (Rob Stivers) fell in love with Sgt. Sarah Brown (Andrea Burns) of the Save-a-Soul Mission, while Nathan Detroit (Jim Streisel) married Miss Adelaide (Laura Tussing) after 14 years of engagement in Frank Loesser's broadway smash, Guys Dolls.” The betting was high at The Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game” until the crap shooters bet their souls and ended up in Sgt. Sarah’s mission repenting their gambling sins. The complexity and sophistication of this production made it one of the best musicals,” said teacher Brad Foland. 24 Activities
