Graduation Ths Class Ol IV87 After three years of bells, assemblies, pep rallies, winning, losing, movies, friendships, pizza, losing notes before the big final, books, “Who are you taking to the prom?”, parties, class rings, letter jackets, drivers license, and Friday night football games, the seniors marched to their theme of “Pomp and Circumstance and became graduates. After a class picture in front of the school, a luncheon of fried chicken and Coke in the courtyard, and a two-hour practice in the 100 degree gym, the Class of '87 was ready to take the first step. That came in the form of Baccalaureate. On a warm Sunday evening, seniors gathered to sing hymns of joy and to hear Terri Pfeiffer and Charise Bowman deliver the invocation and benediction, respectively. Father Marc Sherlock genuinely spoke about the real meaning of “On Eagle’s Wings,” while retiring West Carrollton mayor, Alfred Hintermeister, added a few meaningful, noteworthy remarks. Sports and academic commendations were awarded to various seniors at the Honors Assembly the next day. The final step arrived on Friday, June 5, as West Carrollton Senior High School celebrated its seventy-seventh annual commencement at Memorial Hall. After an afternoon practice, the evening’s ceremonies included the senior vocal and instrumental ensembles adding a touch of music, while Bill Beringer, Brian Housh, Rachel Campbell, and Bill Kuhn delivered poignant and powerful orations. Lori Hopkins opened the program with the invocation, and after words of congratulations. awarding of diplomas, presentations, singing the alma mater, and turning the tassel. Greg Wolf blessed the Class of 1987 by closing the program with the benediction. Then, turning toward tomorrow, seniors, with diplomas in hand, walked off the stage, among the audience, and through the doors as graduates. 1 We entered school as children 2 — Dahling. you look simply mahvelous! 3 Long, Tammy 4 — Leslie and Lee-Jean, smiles now, tears later. 5 — All's quiet on the western front. 6 — Six pack 7 — Stephanie bobbypins Lonna's cap to keep it on straight. 8 — The acting Academy couldn’t say no to Emily. 9 Mindi shades the look of things. 10 — Chantel. the lady in white soon to be the graduate in red. 11 - Shari's the picture perfect graduate. 12 Bill shoots the breeze with friends.
