In 1985, I see myself as the color white-like a blank piece of paper that important people can write on to make me what I am. — Piratan I see myself as the color blue, ready to jump, but afraid to hurt myself. — Julie Rose “I see myself as the color black because my true feelings remain hidden like the shadows. — Paul Baker I see myself as the colors red and black because I am proud to be a Pirate. — Mike Fortkamp I see myself as the color of the season because I'm just another person who blends into the surroundings. — John Campbell “I don't see myself as any color because they don't have a color for me. — Tammy Fugett 2 Piratan “I don't see myself as one color, but in stripes changing from one color to another not sure of which color works best. — Randy Loehrig “Since entering high school, I have learned that no matter what you do, not everyone will like you. So instead of trying to please others, just please yourself. — Susan Slade “Since entering high school. I've become stronger as a person. I've had to deal with major successes and disappointments. I've lived through the low points and used them as opportunities to try new things. — Merry DeLeon “The one person whom I have met who has most influenced my life is my father. He has shown me that hard work is the key to life, but he has also shown me how to have a good laugh. — Allen White The Yearbook 5 The one person whom I have met who has most influenced my life is Mr. David Taylor. Through both psychology and ecology, I have learned to love myself and to work with a group. — Anonymous If I could have my picture taken with anyone in the world, I would have it taken with my family — they are the closest to my heart. — Vicki Hilliard If I could have my picture taken with anyone in the world, I would have it taken with my sister, who has gone to West Germany for a year, because she means very much to me. — Jeff Blommel If I could have my picture taken with anyone in the world, I would have it taken with my mom because she's not just my mother, she's also my friend. — Liz Goecke 6 Piratan “The one person whom I have not met who has most influenced my life is God — I'm not a religious person, but in times of trouble, I have always come out unharmed, and I credit this to myself with a little help from him. — Anonymous The person whom I have not met who has most influenced my life is a guy in a wheelchair ... He has shown me that I should keep trying in life and never give up. I should conquer my problems instead of running away from them. — Vicky Bothe The one person whom I have not met who has most influenced my life is a little girl who died when she was four, and she was my mother's sister. Her name was Jonnie, and I've always planned on naming my little girl Jonnie in rememberance of her. — Elaine Fultz The Yearbook 9 Having friends and being free have been the highlights of high school ... I'll probably never be this free again. — Billy Spencer Walleyball, football, and wrestling have been the highlights of high school. I believe that a little sweat and pain make the best memories ... On August 27, it was back-to-school once again. It didn't take long to get back in the swing of things for the Community Pep Rally kicked off the fall sports season on August 29. And, with the blink of an eye, almost one month earlier than usual. Homecoming was upon us on September 28. Taking off on the popular movie, we went Back to the Future as this year's theme. Parents came back to school on October 14. Even though it was one day after for ghost and goblins, a Halloween dance, complete with costumes, was November 1. Twenty-five candles illuminated the birthday cake as our high school celebrated its 25th birthday on November 18. We had a lot of things to do in the winter, hand-in-hand, with a lot of fun and laughter. With stomachs still full of Thanksgiving dinner, students returned to school on December 2, ready to begin the Christmas festivities. Students participated in a homeroom door decorating contest and many other holiday activities. On December 18, the student body hosted a luncheon for area senior citizens. Students left for Christmas break after participating in a Christmas assembly December 20, complete with performing groups, acting, and a student sing-a-long. Returning to school January 6, found students cramming for final exams January 15, 16, and 17. February was off to a rockin' start when the Air Force Band visited the school on February 4. Four days later, the dancing continued as the NHS sponsored a dance at the high school. I am a traveler in the outside world. Like you, I journey on the roads of my experiences, my sensations and my interactions always trying to keep in touch with who I am ... always seeking out the faith and understanding, the promise, the fulfillment and the joy that warm and beautify the quiet world within me. — Karen Ravn With spring comes many changes. Just as the rose unfolds to face the sun, we open up to a world of new horizons. Some of our new horizons took us as far as the beaches of Florida. Now, some of us find ourselves in a new year at school, on a university campus, working for a living; but wherever we are, we are always walking forward toward some new horizon. 1 — Up, up. and away. 2 — A firm handshake and thanks from Mr. Brigati. 3 — ''And. and ... Its story, once new, but now told, is complete. The halls are now quiet. The school is silent. But soon, summer will give way to fall, the halls will fill with voices, and another story will be waiting to be told. For the graduates, they will now start a new life. For the seniors, this will be their year; for the juniors, they will be in the middle — waiting in the wings and no longer rookies; for the sophomores, they will now be in high school. When all this happens, the yearbook will gather itself together once again with camera and pencil in hand, take one, long look around, and start to tell a new story — the story, which for all, will be a new beginning ... 216 Piratan ...
