N Set Match The 1980 Lady Pirates tennis team compiled an overall record of 3 and 10. and a 2 and 7 record in the M.C.C. Members of the team earning awards were: Debbie Burton, certificate; Mel McCully, 1st year award, Debbie Sercu, Tracie Steffen. Debby Hansel-man, Diane Krohe. Heather Dippel. and captain Cheryl Koehnen, received the 2nd year award. Special awards went to Debby Hanselman, most improved and scholar athlete and Mel McCully, most valuable player. We gained something much deeper than we would have, had we received a trophy saying we were undefeated. We gained the knowledge that failure, if only by the standards set by others, is not completely devastating.
