I thank you, your parents, and your teachers for unltlng ln this common effort. I say thie, because, you're not the only ones who will gain, by your completing high echool. True, you'll find your earning potential La higher and you can accordingly expect s better way of life than Lf you'd quit before now. The rest of the World cen also profit, since the lessons you've learned will make you a more knowledgeable and raaponelbla citizen. High echool graduation marks the end of your eo-called compulsory educatlon. Whatever studying you do after thla, will be because you want to do tt, you feel a need for lt, or your work demands lt. Uhen you respond to one or more of those challenges, you'll find this earlier preparation will be of real value. HIGH SCHOGL To the Members of the Class of 1978: I extend to you, the members of the Class ol 1978, my most sincere congratulations upon completion of your formal public school education and subsequent graduation . During the years that I have been acquainted with your class, I have noted in particular the togethernosa and proven desirability to work toward and contribute to the common good. The development of these values is insidious and hard to explain, but they manifest thelsalves in success both individually and collectively. Your rational and reasonable approach towards solving problems and meeting situations is refreshing and reassuring but not surprlsingg not surprising because when a class has dosirs and a willingness to accept responsibility coupled with many capable students willing to accept leadership roles, it is inevitable that success will be recognized. lt is my wish that you carry and continue to implement these fine characteristics throughout your adult lives. It is a difficult task to say goodbye to a group of kids and wish them well without sounding trite. when I became assistant principal at West Bridgewater High School, you were in your freshman year. Our responsibility during your high school years has been to assist you in the development of skills which will guide you throughout your life. For nnst of you, high school has been an enriching experience and the staff can be proud of this accomplishment, There were, however, others who withdrew or whose needs were not met and the staff must find the means to reach students like these in future classes. I have watched you progress through school and have come to know many of you personally. I have enjoyed working with you and I hope I have met my responsibilities to each of you.
