Donald A. Fisher Superintendent of Schools .4 PERI TE DE T OF SCHOOL Members of the Class of 1974 The world today appears tainted with violence, strife, and greed. In addition, political leaders in whom we had placed our faith and hope have been exposed as being dishonest and lacking in consideration for others. These things can seem depressing and frustrating even to the point where some sincere citizens may adopt an 'iOh what's the use?,' attitude. Yes, it's true we are in troubled times but this Nation, like all growing nations, has never experienced a period when it has not encountered prob- lems of a countrywide or international nature. Instead of letting such events overwhelm us we must try to overcome them and avoid repetitions of them in the future, lim a believer of the saying, Out of all bad there comes some good. Thus, today if we look beyond the headlines, and more deeply into what is taking place, we find the many good things and the great improvements enjoyed by the majority of our citizens. An exam- ple of this, here in our Town, has been the leadership role played by younger people in a belated but now determined effort to protect our nat- ural environment. As a popular advertisement puts it, 'iYouive come a long way babyli' Don't get the impression the above in any way lessens the many inter- esting but demanding challenges ahead of you. Again, to borrow a phrase, You still have a long way to gofi While you are coping with a long way to gon try to make your part of the World at least just a little bit better than it was when you first came upon it. In this way you wll not only rec- ognize the sacrifices made by your parents, teachers, and others before you but you will make a better place for your children as they follow af- ter you. In perhaps a small but always important way you will play a part in making a good World an even better one. Congratulations, good luck, and may Cod bless you with good health and happiness in the years ahead. Donald A. Fisher Superintendent of Schools 1 SL.,....,.,,.,., vi P Cezotis,N1r Fisher X
