I hope you will fulfill your responsibilities as fiercely as you have sought your freedoms. james Harrington Assistant Principa 12 MESSAGE TO SENIORS We have spent four years together and l feel our association has been pleasant and worthwhile. The attempts our school has made to allow you to be responsible, reasonable individuals is really beginning to show progress. You have already been faced with many problems, both personal and social, which have been rather serious and, in most cases, your judge- ment has been sound. l am referring here to specific problems that are really new to your generation such as whether to use drugs or not and the protest move- ment. From now on, life will become even more seri- ous for you and the real decisions must be faced with mature judgement and a clear mind. Congratulations, members of the Class of 1970. You have completed the first twelve years of your academic education. Most of you have made plans to continue on with further schooling. Should others decide later to seek addi- tional study, do call on us to help you locate and gain admission to a school or college. Perhaps we may also help with job placement work? These are very troubled times filled with many seemingly unsolvable situa- tions. However, experience and history confirm that these or other problems are ever present in the world. They can best be met and conquered if they are looked upon as challenges or opportunities. You have received a start from a good home and parents anxious to have you enjoy the advantages of the good life. It is not purely accidental that responsibilities, which may appear in the form of obstacles, are closely tied in with these opportunities. Generally, the happiest and most successful people have grown stronger and accomplished the most satisfactory lives by preparing for, standing up to, and overcoming these obstacles. Hang on to your ideals, you will need the help and reassurance that they can provide. But, be willing to do your share of the work that is necessary to achieve the goals that you seek.
