Within these walls our first years of learning were fostered and our friendships built to live forever in our hearts. Much that has taken place during these last four years at W.B.H.S. has been captured in pictures and writing on the following pages. These hold for us some of our most 'meaningful remembrances. Al- though we will soon embark upon 'our separate jour- neys, each of us will never forget that part of our lives spent here at West Bridgewater High School. l Sub, X 'J . .7 -- :Mi FRIE DSI-llP Oh, the comfort - The inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, Having neither to weigh thoughts, Nor measure words - but pouring them all right out - just as they are - Chaff and grain together - Certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them - Keep what is worth keeping - And with a breath of kindness Blow the rest away. Her in- herent ability to communicate and convey knowledge in her gracious manner has helped us in the Drama Club as well as in the classroom. Her warm and sincere interest in our problems has made the work of our high school years seem less severe. She has shown us how to appreciate life through her own example of sensi- tivity and awareness here at VV.B.H.S. And so, it is our privilege that we proudly dedicate this, our 1970 Climber, to you Mrs. Murphy. 7 i A perceptive soul An understanding heart 4 :dawg A dedicated teacher . . . 9 vu: r ' i 'Tis education forms the common mindg just as the twig is bent the tree's inclined. Alexander Pope: Essay on Man Faculty ation'84 5' To The Class of 1970 The future of our world is only as certain as we are of it. I hope you will fulfill your responsibilities as fiercely as you have sought your freedoms. james Harrington Assistant Principa 12 MESSAGE TO SENIORS We have spent four years together and l feel our association has been pleasant and worthwhile. The attempts our school has made to allow you to be responsible, reasonable individuals is really beginning to show progress. You have already been faced with many problems, both personal and social, which have been rather serious and, in most cases, your judge- ment has been sound. l am referring here to specific problems that are really new to your generation such as whether to use drugs or not and the protest move- ment. From now on, life will become even more seri- ous for you and the real decisions must be faced with mature judgement and a clear mind. I sincerely hope that our efforts at West Bridgewater High School will enable you to accomplish this end. May l wish you happiness and success in the future. Sincerely, THOMAS G. BURDIN, lr. Principal Congratulations, members of the Class of 1970. You have completed the first twelve years of your academic education. Most of you have made plans to continue on with further schooling. Should others decide later to seek addi- tional study, do call on us to help you locate and gain admission to a school or college. Perhaps we may also help with job placement work? These are very troubled times filled with many seemingly unsolvable situa- tions. However, experience and history confirm that these or other problems are ever present in the world. They can best be met and conquered if they are looked upon as challenges or opportunities. You have received a start from a good home and parents anxious to have you enjoy the advantages of the good life. It is not purely accidental that responsibilities, which may appear in the form of obstacles, are closely tied in with these opportunities. Generally, the happiest and most successful people have grown stronger and accomplished the most satisfactory lives by preparing for, standing up to, and overcoming these obstacles. Hang on to your ideals, you will need the help and reassurance that they can provide. But, be willing to do your share of the work that is necessary to achieve the goals that you seek. Good luck and Cod bless you. Donald A. Fisher Superintendent of Schools 13 Mrs. Mather Mrs. MacMuIlen Mrs. R. Keith Mrs. Hayward Mrs. S. Keith 14 r Mr. Dunn Mrs. Lawson wr .. But the friendships that were gained andthe memories of the good times that were enjoyed will remain for the rest of our lives. The years spent at West Bridgewater in learn- ing, gaining experience, and living were not wasted. They were preparation for the life ahead, whatever it will be. Happy memories will survive the school year of 1970. Memories of accidents and anecdotes. But most important, the memories of people - some acquaintances to be renewed, others, abruptly terminated. A meeting of glances, a transfer of thoughts, a merging of laugh- ter. West Bridgewater - a shared adventure. Vg?3 S X: -X ,. QQXA5, ' Q v 1 ,Y , I1 ' X . XX x il 5 K . . 1 ,1 7' ' I , ' I r ., . . .
