The Class of l965 proudly dedicates its Climber to Mr. Robert Chapman. We have learned much from him as a teacher, coach, and man. His knowledge, preparation, and innate ability to teach are present in every classroom session. His ability to instill desire and hustle into athletic teams comes from his own example and enthusiasm. His admirable personal qualities influence all those around him. It has been said, You can preach a better sermon with your lite than with your lips. This man shows us the value of an active life, both scholastically and athletically - one imbued with high ideals, by living it. If all he had done was to give us this example, there would be none more deserving of our appreciation. '- W VYV- m ---,--.,w-,-- I ,F-,-.., . We wish you happiness and success in future years. On behalf of our fellow townspeople l thank you for cooperating with Mr. Sperandio, your teachers, and other staff members. Additionally, l thank the entire staff of the West Bridgewater Public Schools for the fine interest that everyone takes in the welfare of the pupils at each grade level. There are many instances of contributions of time and energy beyond the efforts expected under our established responsibilities. I share with all who will read this publication the following words, Be a little kinder than necessary. l believe this is wonderful advice for all of us. It would help us even more if we applied the idea to all our activities and attitudes. For example: work a little harder than neces- sary, play a game a little better than necessary, drive a car a little more carefully than necessary, be a little more thoughtful than necessary, study a little harder than necessary and so forth. Success is a iourney, not a goal and I am very confident that th-is is only the first of many steps in your travels. I do hope that our association has provided you with valuable learning experiences. Lessons which will enrich and broaden your understanding of the world in which we live. The financial matters were handled well by the business staff and its very efficient and dedicated adviser. Through the efforts and interest of this group of students, the 1965 Climber was published. The purpose of this organization is to take a realistic look at teaching - its challenges, its oppor- tunities, and its services to humanity. It also helps students to identity the qualities good teachers possess and to try to cultivate these in themselves. During the year the group listens to speakers and goes on field trips. ln April, which is teaching career month, they are assigned as teacher helpers in the lower grades. Only one starter returned, and the new coach had a difficult chore facing him. Despite this handicap, the team surprised everyone. They tied for the league championship, qualified tor the South Shore Tournament, and won a berth in the Tech Tournament, which is the goal of every high school team. The reasons for such success were an enthusiastic coach, team spirit, and an undying will to win. 85 JvJ?A-vafunbgef -' 1 , ,--1 f .iff -Q. . ., 1 4 Q- 1'f'?f59'R-mr -mi' -Jw, Avy- j- ffl- m..,.-- , 150-5! l ' ,., - .,. ,,, Wi ' A .-A-. tn, ,lx .K , I , 1 1 - . .Ml - x '35, ,.- ' 1-4.1.1 V Q -Q 'HH 4 x , P I ...- 9535- yy .
