. The Far Reaches of the Universe A Farewell Message After many years of tireless and devoted service to the schools of our town, Mr. Mer- rill is about to enter upon a well-deserved retirement. For the time he has been with us, Mr. Merrill has constantly sought to im- prove, modernize and expand the curricular of our schools. Many of us have felt the bene- fits of his efforts during our own school years, and, even though we leave West Bridgewater High School at the same time he does, we look forward with excitement and interest to the continued growth of the physical as well as academic facilities of our school, for which he is so intrinsically responsible. We are grateful to him for the dignity and high ideals he has brought to his office, we offer him our unceasing respect and admiration, and we wish him all possible contentment and well-being for his future. ENGLISH The English department is charged with the responsibility ot presenting the student with verbal aspects of life. ln order to do this, the subclasses vocabulary, composition, gram- mar, and literature are investigated in vary- ing degrees ot intensity. The disciplined study of these subclasses, coupled with the student's outside experience in these areas, should en- able the student to interact successfully with his chosen environment. Mr. Robert Orr Mrs. John Colford LANGUAGES The students in the language departments read their stories and study their grammar, as always. The emphasis on French as a spoken language is evidenced by many records and tapes, using a variety of techniques and na- tive voices. Cultural research in Latin makes that subject all the more interesting. nsoy Oulu 5- PE .1L5 ',v .- ' I Y:':2:2J::':I:?5i:ZE'f1EffE25'9: -it ' Miss Ruth Sherry Mrs. Marie A.
