ENGLISH The purpose of the English Department is threefold: First, to introduce the students to the worthwhile literature of the worldg Second, to give the student a substantial mastery of the English language in order that he may think and converse intelligentlyg and third, to use these skills for lucid writ- ten expression. HI TORY Awareness of our past, concern for our present and faith in our future are the aims of the history students in order to become thoughtful and active citizens in our com- munity. With filmstrips, radio, television, term papers, and pupil run panel discus- sions and debates, we train our minds to analyze and criticize the events of yester- year and today in order to chart our course into the Age of Outer Space. V, Mr. Peters, Miss McCourt, Mr. O'Donnell, Mr. Loverin Students of advanced math dis- cuss the slide rule. Mr. firaffte, Mr. French, Mrs. Kent Debates allow students to voice their opinion of our government. s., Nuff ATI-IE ATICS The mathematic courses are planned ac- cording to the needs of the pupils taking them. They include general mathematics, applied mathematics, and arithmetic of the business world. For those going on to col- lege we offer algebra, geometry, and trigo- nometry in varying degrees of difficulty. These seniors are preparing to enter liberal arts or scientific colleges.
