2' In Gratitude LNM f The process of maturing from child oo t youth is similar to the process of making steel. When we were born were were like a fresh discovery of iron ore. In childhood our ore was refined. Now we are near the final stage. As adolescents and youths we shall be tempered and made ready for the form which we shall no doubt retain for the rest of our lives. These steps, however, are but a simple outline of a much more complex process. Just as heat, ma- terials, and time affect the quality of steel, so many factors are important in our own develop- ment. Our parents and our community have definitely influenced the molding of our char- acter. Because of the fine personal, historical. and educational influences in OUR TOWN, we can feel reasonably optimistic about our future.
