PRESENTATHNW There is a land of the future, of the present, and of the past. The future is the land of hope, the present, the land' of actuality, the past, the land of love and memories. When the future has become the present, and when the present has become the past, we shall look upon our school days with loving memories. To walk with old friends through the corridors and to sit in the classrooms again will he the most pleasant of our dreams. Therefore, with love and many thanks, we, the class of 1958, present to the faculty and administration of W e s t Bridgewater High School this our Climber. EDITURIAL Chess is a game of wit which might well be applicable to life. For example, the ordinary man is like the pawn on the chess board, always forced to go ahead, never permit- ted to turn back, forever subject by the very laws of the game to the influence of the more important pieces. So it is in life: stronger men hold the power to change the lives of the less important, setting up in their turn laws for the game of living, to be followed by the common people. The pawn cannot blindly advance, each move must he carefully considered. In life, too, each step must be carefully considered, for once made, it cannot be cancelled. The first move of our life has been our schooling, accepted as inevitable, however, the second move is a matter of our own choice and must he carefully studied. Will we find college best suited to us? the armed ser- vices? vocational schools? a job? This choice, dicated for the first time by personal preferences, will be only the first of a series of well-selected moves leading eventually to success. Yes, to suc- cess, for the pawn is not destined to be always the common man. By reaching the opposite side of the board, he, too, receives the power of more important chessmen. When we have met and successfully surpassed the obstacles confronting us, we, too, shall be promoted to some higher sta- tion of life. Resolved always to play our very best, let us leave school in anticipation of the chal- lenging game ahead.
