Beginning with a game over-shadowed by the threat of a teachers' strike, the Warriors reeled off nine consecutive losses. Trying to not make it sound like looking for excuses, it should be noted the opposition was usually strong this season, with only Mo Valley having a losing record of these nine opponents. So it looked quite gloomy on the evening before the P-O game. After all, the Warriors had only beaten the Mounties once in 25 years and never on enemy turf. But a high-spir- ited bonfire on the eve before the game got the adrenalin flowing and the ultimate happened, with the Warriors down- ing the Mounties by an 8-6 score.
