THE SPIRIT OF THE LION The Class of 1983 wishes to dedicate the Silver Jubilee Edition of the Lion’s Roar to the Spirit of the Lion. “The Lion, the West Boylston Jr. Sr. High School mascot, is the epitome of our spirit. There is a certain magic in West Boylston students that is spelled INVOLVEMENT. The small school with a great heart which allows the student body to enthusiastically participate in a comprehensive academic program and a multi-faceted extra-curricular program. Students moving from art to mathematics and then on to shop class followed by athletics and perhaps an evening band or play rehearsal . . . overwhelming? Not for West Boylston students. They are the heart of the Lion.” Mr. Herbert Maynard 8

“I can say without reservation that this year’s senior class has exemplified the following ideals: excellent attitude, excellent participation, excellent attendance, and excellent ability to work with each other. On all of our teams, the morale remains high although being a small town with many activities to participate in makes winning difficult at times. School spirit drives the students to give their best, work hard, and show character in any situation that they may be faced with. Mr. Ronald Ekblom “The competitive, academic enthusiasm of W.B.H.S. students is continually growing to answer tomorrow’s challenges.” Miss Mary Salmon “If there is one thing that has stood out at West Boylston Jr. Sr. High School since the school opened, it has been the outstanding school spirit displayed by the students and faculty. A certain pride is exhibited at all school functions and activities which has always been a tribute to the students and community. Anyone who has ever taught at West Boylston, attended the schools, or lived in the community cannot help but be impressed and proud of the student body and school spirit at West Boylston High School.” Mr. Carlton J. O’Connor 9
