As in scholastic endeavor, concentration takes precedence in athletics from the beginning practice throughout the entire season. Any day of the week during practice the team, which began with 44, works on plays until they are perfected. The first day of practice finds the team concentrating on blocking, formations, and plays with teamwork an- other goal. Opening the season, West Bloomfield played against St. Michael's of Pontiac. As a result of hard work the final score was West Bloom- field 33, St. Michael's 7. The second game played at Clarenceville found the Lakers again in the lead by a score of 33 to 14. Hard fought by both teams the third game was played against lvfilford on West Bloornfield's own field with a final score: Lakers 28, Milford 20. During the fourth game, Brighton led the first quarter, but West Bloornfield again took the lead with a final score of 21 to 13. Northville scored victory over West Bloomfield with a final score of 27 to 26. The resulting score of the sixth game was Clarkston 0, West Bloom- field 20. In the seventh game against Bloomfield Hills, the Lakers scored 21, Bloomfield Hills 19. The last game of the season, played against Holly, resulted in a final score of West Bloomfield 26, Holly 12. Ending the season with 48 players, West Bloomfield closed with another victory of points, rank- ing second place in the League.
