Cheerleaders and tudents The performance of any athletic team is influenced greatly by the degree of school spirit shown by the fans. Vital to the action of a team is an audience which supports it with optimism and enthusiasm. The XVest Bend High School student body demonstrated both of these qualities as attendance at all games was record-high and everyone cheered loudly. This held true at wrestling and swimming meets as well as at the regular football and basket- ball games. POM-POM GIRLS Kneeling --- Barb Kircher, Indie Eichenseer, Barb Stehlik, Mary Ann Lange, Ioan Knoebel, Laurie Schowalter. Standing --- Barb Nicholas, Lois Sclnnahl, Kris Lar- son, Laurie Steiner, Cheryl Fischer, Pat Behrends. N? .-6 An outlet for the crowd's enthusiasm was provided for by our cheerleaders who led snappy cheers with pep and vigor, not only during moments of victory, but also during those of defeat. Pre-game spirit was kindled at the pep-assemblies where the vars ity cheerleaders introduced new cheers, held intra-class cheering contests, and acted out skits. Some of their best skits were these: 'i'Twas The Night Before Cl11'lStlDtlS,,, Three Plus Twof and A Mock Weddingf, Divided into three
