'f 7'l- '. IX - .. . T, L. .L .. O W O CLASS OFFICERS Jerry Matenaer - Vice-president Bob Lauson - - - President Barbara Frankow - Secretary-treasurer That blast of cannon just heard was the soph- omore class arriving on the first day of school. In just a few short months we had changed from green freshmen to superior sophs. We wasted no time, but plunged like dolphins into the swing of high school life. Bob Lauson, Jerry Matenaer, and Barbara Frankow were chosen as our class officers. When homecoming rolled around, we partici- pated eagerly. Ethel Frank was our candidate for Queen. Two sophs, Dick Becker and Roger Stoffel helped make the championship football team tops. Ilo Rauscher made the varsity basketball team and played excellent ball. Several fellow classmates gave the track team a boost, among whom was Ed Zautcke, speedy quarter-miler. We dominated all the B teams, with Dennis Kral, Gordon Rose, and Tom Oel- hafen being most outstanding. We really churned up the air waves in speech activities. Dennis Kral and John Moeller, our silver- tongued orators, led the group. Close on their heels were Celia Frank, Dave Gumm and Barbara Laycock. Many others contributed their talents to drama- tic productions, the Clipper staff and the operetta. We sophs shouted loudest at pep-meetings, back- ing our teams to the hilt at all games, and showed an indefatigable school spirit. Page seventeen Top Row --- Lavern O.
