OFFICERS Sue Christensen - Secretary-treasurer Bill Claybaugh - - - President Rose Marx - Vice-president Freshman Day! For many of us this day was the first time we had seen the inside of West Bend High School. The mixed emotions with which we had long viewed this day soon disappeared as our only thought centered on finding our way through the maze of rooms and corridors. One or two of us were lost for awhile, but all returned home safely that night. After several weeks, the teachers began to recog- nize faces and names when they saw the freshmen. Our right to vote was first put to use in election of freshmen class officers. Our president was Bill Claybaugh, our vice-president was Rose Marx and our secretary-treasurer was Sue Christenson. It was an honor for our class to have Tom Ackerman elected as vice-president of the Student Senate. All of us had heard of school spirit, but its real meaning came to us at the pep meetings and the foot- ball games where we cheered right along with the upperclassmen, our enthusiasm making up for our lack of experience. In our opinion our first home- coming was a grand success. Babette Rohrman, a fellow freshman, found the toothpick and had the honor of crowning the queen and lighting the bonfire. The freshman class engaged actively in the sports program, in various speech contests, and in dramatics and debate. Our freshman days were swift and busy. In looking back, we find we really had an enjoyable and successful freshman year. We are looking forward with even more expectancy to the sophomore year. Page fourteen
