Bohn 14' W Nl 1, f '- ' ff ,vf FRESHMAN CLASS OFFICERS Presldent Rlchard Martmy Secretary treasurer James Kuehn Vlce presldent Elalne Boettcher It s hard to belleve our freshman year IS almost over We entered school on Freshman Day Sep tember 4 I946 a day before the upper classmen We were determmed to succeed and strove to make our class the best freshman class that ever entered West Bend Hugh School We started the year ln a very democratnc way by electmg a set of very capable class officers namely Richard Martnny presldent Elaine Boett cher v1ce president and james Kuehn secretary We can strll remember our flrst football game How exclted we were when the band started to play the school song After the game we really felt m the swung of thmgs when we all headed downtown We also trned to do our best m bas ketball track baseball and other sports and thereby received some very valuable experience The first pep meeting was another thnll we don t thunk we ll ever forget How enthusiastically we all cheered but many of us had raw throats later A large number of freshmen partlclpated ln the varxous speech contests and as a class fared Page twenty very well Others also partxclpated ln clramatxcs and debate Those who enyoyed muslc represented our class m the glee clubs bands and orchestra We demonstrated that we had learned well when Evelyn Spartz Roland Vogel Ronald Wendel born and David Grogan received first places ln the muslc tournament of the school We attended games dances and also helped make our first homecommg a success One of our classmates Florence Fuck found the llttle decorated stuck and had the honor of crown mg the homecommg queen and lighting the bon fare The prom found the freshmen well repre sented It s a memory we ll always cherxsh At the beglnnmg of the second semester we were saddened by the accidental death of our frlend and classmate Wllllam Rxchxe We ve had an enjoyable and successful year as freshmen and hope to make our sophomore year better I I ' u O v f 3 ' ' The freshmen contributed a lot to the spirit
