When we walked info fhe wrong room lfilled wifh seniorsl, fhey iusf saf fhere and laughed. Sob! All day long we were called green freshies. School is sfill going on. Everyone expecfs so much of us. Oh dear, fhe feachers fhink we cafch on fo everyfhing: if we do one liffle fhing wrong, we gef an eighfh hour. How we laugh af our- selves now, fhough, for having been so confused abouf fhe build- ing: we can find our way around here blindfolded. We had a school parfy lasf nighf. The girls were afraid fo look af fhe boys for fear of being asked fo dance. We didn'f fhink we could dance well enough. Buf we are going fo leam soon. We are geffing ready for fhe homecoming celebrafion now. We have been gafhering maferial from everywhere for fhe bonfire. Of course. our main inferesf is fhe sfunf and parade. We freshmen had a hard fime keeping our foofball field in order, buf fhe people gof fhe general idea of whaf if was supposed fo be. The day of fhe game was cool and blue-skied. lf was a fough fighf, buf we won. This game also infroduced fhe drum-maioreffes who added sparkle and color fo fhe homecoming pep. The fresh- men drum-maioreffes were Rufh Schachf, Margaref Gumm, Mar- jorie Nielsen, and Rifa Seebofh. Finally came fhe homecoming dance. All fhe freshmen were fense. Would we win fhe cup? Thaf was fhe quesfion fhaf ran fhrough fhe minds of fhe green freshmen. Then Mr. Colby gave a speech. He read off all fhe names of fhe classes as fhey had won in years before. l-lonesfly, I fhoughf we would busf before he read fhe winner you fhink if was? The Class of I943.
