SomeTimes an organizaTion would cease To TuncTion, and iTs small bank accounT balance would be carried year aTTer year wiTh no one bu+ The banks know- ing ThaT iT exisTed. AT presen+ There are ThirTy- one accounTs Tor which monev is received and paid ouT. The procedure involved in handling an ac- counT is This: Taking The Bend as an illusTraTion. The business manager receives money Tor sub- scripTions. AT The end oT The day he deposiTs The money wiTh Mr. Colby, who gives him a receipT. When a bill has To be paid, The business manager wriTes an order on The school bank. This order musT be signed by The sTudenT business manager and The TaculTy sponsor oT The Bend. This order is presenTed To The TaculTy Treasurer oT The school bank, who wriTes a check Tor The amounT re- guesTed. The sTudenT business manager musT keep a seT oT books accounTing Tor all The money which he receives and pays ouT. Two or Three Times a year he musT check These books wiTh The TaculTy Treasurer oT The school bank. STudenTs aspiring To iournalisTic work have ample opporTuniTy To obTain such experience on The DusT Pan and Bend sTaTTs. The DusT Pan is The weekly paper which is mimeographed and produced enTirely by The sTu- denTs. The sTaTT, composed oT sophomores, iuniors, and senior TypisTs, is under The supervision oT Miss Zimmerman, Occasionally, The work is Taken over by an English class as a pracTical proiecT in compo- siTion. The DusT Pan reaches iTs subscribers every Friday. SubscripTion raTes are 50 cenTs a year. The school year-book is called The Bend. IT is a senior class publicaTion, advised by Mr. BaxTer, and is disTribuTed aT The close oT each school year. The primary purpose oT The Bend is To porTray a conscienTious record oT school liTe during The year.
