The ideals of sporfsmanship are elevafed by a beH'er undersfanding of fhe rules of fhe game. Defini+e ideas of 'lhe spirif of play are inculcafed by fhe hard knocks of acfual combaf. Aside from fhe enioymeni' and appreciafion of fhe various sporfs, 'lhe physical value of inframurals should noi be overlooked. They give 'lhe average you1'h fhar organic developmenf, roughness of fiber, and endurance so necessary +o meef +he baffle of life. Wesl' Bend High School offers rhe s+uden+ a wide variefy of spor+s, limi+ed only by playing space and lime 'For par+icipa'l'ion. The 'fall season offers fouch foorball, soccer, and cross couniryg fhe winier season produces baskefball, 'Foul- shoofing, goal-shoofing, boxing, wres+ling, and ping-pong: and spring produces such sporls as indoor baseball, horseshoe, +ennis, and +rack. Ac+ive par+icipan+s receive credif on a poin+ sysfem, which is accredi+ed foward a class fofal. Beaver Dam vs. WesT Bend 7 0 Fumbling and penalTies cosT WesT Bend iTs Third game. The game was a Thriller Trom beginning To end, and iT seemed as iT iT would end wiTh neiTher Team scoring. This idea was blasTed when The Beavers pulled Themselves TogeTher and pushed The ball over as The Tinal gun was Tired. l-larold YogersT proved himselT The backbone oT The line by conTinually geTTing in and breaking up The opponenT's plays. PorT WashingTon vs. WesT Bend 6 6 The Team, encouraged by The homecoming crowd and acTiviTy, came ouT oT Their slump and gave PorT a real baTTle. The Red and WhiTe had The upper hand over PorT ThroughouT The conTesT, making 22 TirsT downs To PorT's 8. PorT's single Touchdown came in The second guarTer when AnTonie, The Tull- back, inTercepTed a WesT Bend pass and ran 85 yards To score. WesT Bend came back in The Third guarTer when Regolin carried The ball over, Tying The score.
