Zhe Senior Class of 1962 presents Zhe Mine Devil West Hadin High School Hadiu. JVorth Carolina foreword As the weeks go by, we see that we are reaching our final days at our beloved West Badin High. We have really grown to love this institution and to reflect this deep and gracious feeling we have prepared this record of our last year here. We hope that you will be able to feel and enjoy this great and deep devotion, as you page through this our publication and last gift to our Alma Mater. Man is immortal till his work be done, and we have set out, or are about to set out to immortalize ourselves. It is with great pleasure that we, the the Blue Devil, to one we all know and by many students. He has helped to make enjoyable ones. He has inspired us to go Senior Class of 1962, dedicate our yearbook, love. He is a person who is greatly admired our high school days much happier and more on when the going seemed to become rough. The dedication of our yearbook to him is only a small way of showing our gratitude and admiration for him. This person could, be none other than our very own MR. M. L. WALL. TO THE SENIORS OF THE CLASS OF 1962; Principal’s Message We extend to you our most sincere congratulations upon the completion of your high school training. You succeeded while others failed to try; you attained while oth¬ ers tried and failed. Yours is the glory, the honor, the salutations of victory, and the rewards of perseverance. You now reap the harvest of your toils and pluck the ripe fruits of your labors. You deserve these words of praise and it is with this realization that we extend them to you. But with the joys which are yours at this time, is also the obligation to be worthy of your felicitations. Too often, those of us who succeed count our accomplishments as ends within themselves and rest on the laurels of our victories. We eat, not to build strong bodies, but to fill our stomachs and to satisfy our tastes. We display our diplo¬ mas, to be seen of men rather than to display them as lighted candles on candle¬ sticks. So as you enjoy the compliments of the season and the gratulatory expressions of your friends, be not too impressed with the seemingly finality of graduation. This is not the end, this is the beginning - this is your commencement. Sincerely yours, G. L. Hines OOdiQl jru es MISS D. WIGGINS MISS M. McCLAIN MR. R. S. ADAMS mm Elementary faculty MRS. A. H. Our advisors, Mr. M. L. Wall and Mrs. B. F. Bennett. Our members embarked on a trip of studious living. We really gave our books our best and had a high overall average for a freshman class. Our class administration was headed by Johnny Shepherd. In our second year we were again led by Mrs. Bennett and as all good things do get lost at one time or another we lost Mr. Wall. Our class was headed by Charles Allen. We again led our school in scholarship and we were able to put Miss Loretta Bruton on the throne as Miss Homecoming. Our Junior year was the year of years. Our class administration was headed by Miss Dorothy Kilgo and under her leadership we had a most wonderful Junior-Senior prom. Little did we know, but this year was to be our last under Mrs. Bennett. This year a reward was given us for our previous scholarship, twelve of us were installed in the Crown and Scepter Honor Society. On a sunny day in August, four years from our entrance, we again strode through the majestic halls of West Badin High. It was the beginning of the end. We arrived to find a bright, pretty face to greet us, our new teacher, Miss Drucilla Wiggins. Un¬ der her, we have had a most fruitful year and we have really grown to love her. We ' ll miss her, but then we ' ll miss you, too. Humors Sophomores freshmen Elementary Class Officers ? } SOPHOMORES JUNIORS {Juniors C. Apperwhite A. Atkins M. Bruton J. Burch J. Caple B.
