CLASS OF 1955 FOREWORD We, the staff of the first edition of the BADIN BLUE DEVILS, 1954- 1955, have tried to make an annual which would present our school as you would like to remember it. In years to come, may you turn through these pages and recall the happy months at OLD W. B. H. S. DONALDSON She has been a loyal friend and counselor to all students who have enrolled at our school, since her beginning in 1918. We extend this small token of thanks to her for her thirty-seven years of service to West Badin High and to our community. To The Seniors of the Class of 1955 You now launch out for new horizons; before you looms a future untried, unfathomed, uncharted, and unknown; but you do not take this venture unprepared. You were introduced to the wisdom of the philo¬ sophers and you were acquainted with the learned ones. You carry with you an understanding of the intricate workings of nature, and the accepted standards of our democratic society. You have been taught --you have learned. Withthis abundance of knowledge and experience, which you now have at your disposal, the problems of the future will be more easily solved, the distant horizons more clearly perceived. Principal G. Clark Sponsor CLASS HISTORY Four years ago on a sunny September morning, a group of be¬ wildered Freshmen met with Miss V. J. Poe, and elected as class officers: Lucille Davis, President; Jackie Kilgore, Vice President; Mary Boulware, Secretary; and Clifford James, Assistant Secretary. We were well represented in athletics and other school activities by members of our class during the school year. At the end of the year we were participants in the annual Freshman-Sophomore Ball. During our Sophomore year, our class, advised by Miss F. P. Rogers, was very enthusiastic and honored to have members of the class serving at the Junior-Senior Prom. This year our class activities were very interesting. We again had the honor of participating in the Freshman-Sophomore Ball. In our Junior year v ith Miss E. A. Dawson as our advisor, and Bennie Washington, President, we entertained the Seniors with a Prom, which was enjoyed by both classes. During our last year in high school, with Miss M. E. Jordan as advisor, we again entrusted the office of President to Bennie Washington; Vice President, Jackie Kilgore; Secretary, Frankye Robinson; Assistant Secretary, Rose Anna Waddell; and Treasurer, Esther L. Leake. Our many activities during the year included a trip to A. T. College’s Senior Day, Class project drive, publishing the last edition of the school paper, publication of the Annual, and finally Commencement.
