The ttme has come to b1d farewell to two of the most beloved teachers at Central Mr Paul l Bast and Mr I Emerson Nye When school begms agatn next fall we shall mrss them but we shall not forget them because they were more than yust tnstructors they were tnends who shed thetr shell of teacher and walked nght 1nto our hearts For twenty SIX years lflr Bast taught l11SlOIY not ln the old cut and drled fashlon of dates and battles but 1n the excttmg manner of mterestmg tales and anecdotes as only he knew how was young at heart and when we needed cheermg up he was always on hand w1th a Joke or two to l EMERSON NYE do the tr1ck When he led communtty slngtng and took us back to the Gay N1net1es durrng the Faculty Assembly we knew that he was more than just a hrstory teacher he was one of us Durtng the years Mr Nye taught here he was somewhat of a Central trad1t1on wtth hrs d1st1nct1ve black bow t1e long tlowmg hatr and rare dramattc ablhty Hrs speech classes were always packed wtth lun and lauahter because he bel1eved tn aavetv as well as hard work We all knew what he meant by hard work too when we slaved over decla mat1ons and the all class plays whtch he always d1rected lt IS to these two unforgettable teachers that the l94o Wamago IS ded1cated l-le understood us so well because he, himsell, PAUL I.
