J OFFICERS: Constance Cummings, secretary, Miss Conley, sponsorg Dennis Zierden, vice-president: Janet Little, presidentg and Marsha Owens, treasurer. On September 2, 1962, the class of '66 began its high school ,66 career in the new West Allegheny building. This was to be the first class to begin its freshman year in the new high school, and complete its entire four years there. The class of '66 was successful as a fund-raising class, sponsoring the Freshman Dance, the Sophomore Picnic, plus the Junior-Senior Prom. They, in four years, sold everything from dinner mints to sweatshirts, and light bulbs to Christmas cards. From September to May, they participated in the varied athletic and social activities, with time out for long-awaited vacations and occasional studying. Year followed year, and the class of '66 came nearer and nearer to their senior year. The class of '66 is distinguished by the fact that more of its stu- dents are college-bound than any previous year in West Allegheny history. Approximately 60070 of the graduating class plans to continue its education in institutions of higher learning. Besides which, the sen X iors of 1966 obtained more scholarship and loan aid than any other class. Janet Little and Connie Cummings were elected by the class to serve as president and secretary for four consecutive years. As the senior year came to a close, the customary senior activi- ties were held. The Senior Luncheon was served on Tuesday, May 24, and final exams were given the following two days. With this, the seniors walked out of the classrooms for the last time. May 29 marked Baccalaureate services. Then, on June 1, the seniors were awarded their diplomas at Commencement, thus completing their high school years. 20
