Class Prophecy . . . The Class of 1953 halted the wheels of progress long enough to stage their tenth annual reunion which was held at the Feed Mill Terrace Room. Captain Marc Brunner, instructor of frog-men at Paris Island Marine Base, acted as host of the affair. Jim Hayes came from Idaho where he is assisting his uncle Gabby. Dave Walters told about his visit to the Olympics where he took top honors for the United States in the 500 yard dash. As a sideline, Dave is the big boss in a baby-sitting syndicate in New York. Lois Van- Benthuysen played a piano rendition of our school song. Lois made headlines last week in Carnegie Hall by playing the Minute Waltz in a half minute. Rog Brady showed some movies in which he made his current TV debut as Victor Baron on Search For Tomorrow. Chuck Cummings, president of Canvas Shoes, Inc., sponsors Mr. Brady's program with the latest in P. F. Canvas Sneakers. Jack Thompson told about his adventures while test-driving new hot-rods. Ruth Martin who is making a name for herself as Secretary of the Treasury in Washington, gave a report on our national debt. Later in the evening, Jonie Peterson entertained the group with an acrobatic dance. Miss Peterson took time off from her busy schedule to come home from New York where she is entertaining under the stage name of Tina Bree. Also on the entertainment list was Marilynn Coombes who vocalized with Skip Powell's band. They appear nightly at the Coney Island Country Club. Merlin Russell gave a few scenes from his recent movie. Mr. Russell won the Academy Award for his excellent performance in the re-release of It's Cold In Them Thar Hills. One of the noted celebraties, Chuck Sharp,, demonstrated some of his techniques in training ushers in his newly acquired movie palace, The Bug House. Wendell Sandell attended the affair in one of the latest Paris styles. He is owner of Wendell's Wear-Ever Clothing Store. Priscilla Hammond has just returned from her tour of the continent with her all-girl glee club. Barbara Ohl has accepted the position as head of the Home Economics Department at Temple University. Also teaching is Professor Phyllis Patterson, head of the English Department at the Perry Square college CGannonj. Jeanne Williams reported on the new nurses' uniform which she is designing for Hamot Hospital. Jim Gunn gave a demonstration on how to hold a bowling ball properly. Jim won the international championship last week with an average of 299. Hal Hart, p1'oprietor of Wesleyville Town Casino, gave free coke to everyone attending the festivities. Maggie Schmid gave an account of diplomatic relations with France. She was selected French ambassador under the new Communist regime. Colleen Steward distributed nickels through the courtesy of the First National Bank. She is successor to Gordon Lindahl fclass of '51J as Vice President in charge of Nickels at the bank. The only member of the class who failed to attend was Dick Dunford, who is in Africa on one of his hunting expeditions. Mr. Dunford is also the editor of Hunting and Fishing Magazine, and Rosie Pratt is writing a column of advice to the lovelorn in the newly revised Wesleyville Shoppers Guide. We again set the wheels of progress in motion, and started plans for the next class reunion. 12
