Psalm l19:105 Light stands for so many things - security, warmth, guidance, happiness, love. All these and more we find in the Bible - the security of having found the only Way to eternal lifeg the warmth of a God Who loves each one of us completely and personallyg the guidance of Jesus' life on earth, to be taken as our Example: the one true and never-failing happiness, found in living a Christian life: and, of course, love - love so great and over- whelming that no single page can begin to describe it sufficiently. ln this book you will see that Wesleyan Academy, founded on principles of the Bible, daily following its instruction, provides these same qualities - guidance, aswe learn more each school day from Christian teachersg security, knowing that here we receive not only essential secular education but also the Christian wisdom that so many have found so necessary in coping with today's problems: the warmth that one feels when he knows he is part of a close family, knit together in Christy the happiness of daily fellowship with others who share that last trait - love: love for each other, love for the stranger, but most of all, love for Him who loved us first. vi H 6056 Y N w 3 7 , , A Dedicai Hefcior Dedication is defined as a devotion to a cause - full-time decisive action because of a firm belief in something, The cause to which one is 'devoted is a very worthy one, and respected by many. You are very sure of such a cause, so fully devoted to it that no one or nothing can change that feeling of worthiness. For this reason, we want to dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Hector Alrnodovar, who has taught here for five years. He re- Oh Almodcfvar spected by all of us. In this school of Chris- tian teacbers, he is very popular with the students. And we do feel sure of himg daily we see in him many desirable qualities - determination, cheerfulness, patience. This, and much more urges us to dedi- cate this edition of E1 Bambi to Mr. Hector Almodovar. El Bambi Staff Hr ., Q S, xy. John Morales Alvarez Putney Rev. George Rev. Ronald Hilson Heavilin Office Workers Mrs. Pauline Reyes is one of the true veterans of our school - she has been in Puerto Rico sixteen years, and has spent twelve of them working at Wesf leyan. Originally from Texas, she studied two years in a commercial school for a secretarial course, be- sides summer classes at the State University of Texas and classes at the University of Puerto Rico. Her official titles are Bookkeeper and Assistant Secretary, But of course she is ever ready to aid in countless other ways - jobs ranging from providing pins and sewing buttons on uniforms to seeking in- formation for desperate yearbook editors. Mrs, Van der Kolk arrived with her husband from Marion, Indiana, three years ago. Now her husband is the Acaderny's librarian while she works as secretary. She graduated from the Gary Business MRS. MARION VAN DER KOLK MRS. PAULINE REYES College in Indiana after taking a secretarial course there. As secretary Mrs. Van der Kolk has the great privilege of preparing excuses, tardy slips, passes, and - best of all - detentioif slips. Besides this she helps with the secretarial work for Wesleyan Corn- munity Church. Standing alone, each one backed by only her own daily accomplishments, each woman is a won- derful example of service and dedication to one's occupation. But when we consider their combined forces, providing the school with the 'paperwork' background that is so necessary, we realize that what they are doing is much more than a mere oc- cupationg although this is not a dedication, we wish to pay a special tribute to those who reign behind the first door on the right marked 'Office'. Business ,,.-4' f r Mr. Phillip Stockin Manager But I'm not really the Business Manager - at least I don't go by that title, was the protest which we provoked from Mr. Stockin when we approached him about his position. But some people just can't take no for an answer, so here he appears, pre- sented to you as PHILLIP STOCKIN - BUSINESS' MANAGER In addition to the above-stated task, Mr. Stockin also serves as Assistant Bookkeeper, runs the book store, and teaches Business Math. As if this were not enough, he holds various other places worthy of mention: he is one of our more recently-arrived teachersg he is one of the youngestg and he has the distinct honor of being the newest newly-wed on campus.
