Psalm 1:3 This is the aim we have for ourselves at Wesleyan Academy. We, like the tree, are planted by the rivers of scholastic and spiritual knowledge. All that is necessary is for us to send forth our roots to soak up this knowledge. And, as we continue to drink it in, our fruit, the ability to live a good and resourceful life with Christ as our leader, will be brought forth in the season in which we shall go out into the world. We sincerely hope that we will have absorbed enough food - for thought and for soul - to stand alone and strong, with unwithering leaves. ln this yearbook we intend to show one year of this growth. In it you will see each of the students, containing more of this heart-and-mind-breeding water than ever before. The administration gives opportunities and facilities: the teachers give time and talents: the parents give finances and supportg the students give co- operation and effort. The school has grown and OUR PRINCIPAL MR. ROBERT STOWELL matured for the simple reason that the giving has far outweighed the taking. It is the spirit of sacrifice which inspires the loyalty of its increasing number of families. The Academy has achieved success in meeting the immediate needs of its students. Now it is beginning to expand, to increase its offerings, to enlarge its scope. The future outlook has never been brighter. My uniforml II Pimcer Girls Although this is the first year for Pioneer Girls in the Academy the organization began two years ago in the Wesleyan Community Church. The girls are directed by Mrs. Barbara Mathes, Miss Lois Buck, and Mrs. Tommie Barnes. At left we see the girls sewing for the Castaner Hospital. Girl Scvufs Troop 302 started this year at Wesleyan Academy under the di- rection of its leader, Mrs. Alice May Torres, and assistant, Mrs. Io Feliciano. The girls have worked hard on badges while at the same time have enjoyed many picnics and outings. The Brownie troop also began this year, with Mrs. Kathy Spain as leader, and meets in the leader s home. Christian Youth Crusade is one of our organizations in the Academy. Their activities are mainly handcraft, social, and religious education. All these activities are of course Christ Centered. The age limit is approximately from 9 to 12. Miss Case, the sponsor, managed to draft some of our teachers and students to help her keep fifty-five members active continually.
