5-2- SUPHUMUBE OOKIN G back over our two short years at Wesley, we feel that if we were writing our memoirs theyfwould read somewhat like this: On the sunny day of September 22, 1944, the campus of Wesley junior College became the scene of many new faces-frustrated by the Hrst taste of college life. Those Hrst few hours were Hlled with registration, meeting roommates, unpacking, arranging furniture, and becoming familiar with our future home. As we said goodbye to our parents, we realized that we were now on our own as never before. Orientation week-end gave us the opportun- ity to catch our breath and to begin our ad- justment to college life. VVith the aid of a few sophomores, we learned to End our way around Dover. Before the weekend was over, we were surprised at our nack of associating names with faces. On Monday morning, we were invaded with more new faces. The sophomores had arrived! Then began the search for big and little sisters. Everything was going along comparatively smooth till Rat lfVeek loomed before us. XfVe freshmen were ushered into initiation to the tune of Ah Sweet Misery of Life. It became the style for the well-dressed frosh to wear pajama tops, long stockings completely ob- scuring the hair, gaudy skirts, cardboard signs, and black whiskers. After the Enal hectic night of Rat Week, we were able to settle down to the routine of college life. Because of war time conditions, many of the girls took an active part in the USO Club. This very satisfactorily provided entertain- ment and variety in social activities. As the Hrst semester sped along, it brought our Hrst college formal. After Christmas vaca- tion, we suddenly realized that the dreaded exams were fast approaching, and with qualms we prepared for them. YVith the beginning of the second semester, Florence Pearce and Bryan Bailey joined us. The last semester of our freshman year was
