IZIQESHMAN Cl-IIQCDNICLE eaford - Wilmington - Federalsburg - Dover - Georgetown - Calvert - Harrisburg - from all these and more came the class of '4'7. Up the endless stairs to awaiting roommates we came as shy freshmen, eager to Hnd out what college held for us. In the spirit of friend- liness characteristic of Wesley we were wel- comed by everyone. Before we were considered an ofhcial part of Wesley, the sophs, true to tradition, put us through the much-dreaded rat week. First the mad rush downtown, flustering all of Dover, and the haphazard purchasing of horrible two- inch green ribbons, gay colored stockings, and other ridiculous articles. Then long before dawn the unmerciful awakening as scheming upper classmen escorted us to the pajama reveille of rat exercises on the campus. Fi- nally the week of obedience ended, not with- out sighs of relief. Class organizations were formed at the first of our serious meetings. To the Student Coun- cil were elected-Lula Pardee, jane Sprenkle, and Evelyn Parker. Members representing the Freshmen Class in the Religious Council were Rae Fell, Connie Mfarren, Lila Chason, and Willard Robinson. Other classmates, Shirley Schaeffer, Jesse Baker, and Eileen Latter were chosen for The Wesley Echo's staff. Numerous changes took place at the begin- ning' of the second semester. Lula Pardee left us to become a lucky bride. To fill her vacancy in the Dormitory Council Jane Swann, one of our mischievous twins, was elected. Also Lois Lally, Dorcas Crump, Rosann X'Vholfarth, and Frances Rice left our ranks. And new fellow- lfllesleyans were welcomed: Manuel Azpurua, Charles Holdway, Don Gladden, lfVillard Knotts, Howard Kizer, Cecilia Belgrave, Hilda VViley, Carolyn Harbaugh, Lorraine Crockett, Louise Bloth, and Virginia Lyndall. At the half-way mark Marie Brown was our only Honor Student. We were proud to help establish a more successful athletic schedule for Wesley. In our memories will remain the spirit arousing games of hockey, basketball, and softballg the pep-rallies, and the cheer-leading. Also we are equally proud of our classmate, Eileen Latter, who was behind this sports program. Encircled dates of our calendars included our extended Christmas vacation which was due to the influenza epidemic, the scavenger- hunt party, and the formal Valen-tines Dance with the NAPS as guests. And not to be forgot- ten were the many personally encircled dates. Now at -the end of our freshman year we sincerely hail the Sophomore Class.
