lVlexico Trip Scientific Explorations Part of Class ROU'fine The difference bclwecn the scientific approach and thc everyday approach is to be found in such courses as Chem- istry l 81 ll, Biology l and H, and general science. Learning all phases ol' life and different scientific compounds are daily routines followed by many students in class. This year the Biology ll class went on a field trip into the interior of Mexico. Collecting specimens and observing biological points of interest were a few of the things the students did. qSee pagesj The Chemistry I and Il classes are relatively the same dealing with various formulas, learning the elements and experimenting in a lab periodically. Biology, however, is a different type of course alto- gc ther. Biology, which means the study of all phases of life, has students dissecting different types of animals anatomy. In general science, the students learn different ele- ments, as general science is closely related to chemistryg learning the periodic table of elements, having lab, and studying the different classes animals are grouped into. They also learn about all types of earth strata. Kent Grosser, chemistry teacher, is head of the science department. Models of angles and prisms, overhead projectors manned by teachers explaining logical progressions of problems, is what fresh- men, sophomores, juniors or seniors face when they take one or more of the mathcmatic courses offered on campus. Math plays a large role in Ullu competition, also. Num- ber sense is available for those who wish to participate in math competition. Student l,ifcf23
