Job Training 1 WHS Club Activities Promote Involvement From Shakespearean Comedies to Rodeos lnvolvemcnt comes on campus in two dozen-plus clubs and organizations, run- ning in size from 13 members in Industrial Arts Club t0 150 girls in the Pep Squad, and encompassing activities from displaying a prize steer in a livestock show to acting out a Shakcspearian comedy. Jobs, work, training and employment are all vital parts of DECA, IACA, Arts, VOE, VICA, FFA, and FHA, clubs. Distributive Education Clubs of America QDECAQ be- came so large that two chapters exist. Both units take part in sales related contest and this year conducted a La Palma sales campaign and won nation- al honors at the national con- vention and contests in San Antonio, Apr. 14-18. A new organization, lndus- trial Arts Club of America, tries to create interest in many fields of work. Some projects included making book stands for the typing department, making parallel bars for physi- cal education department, making movie screens for teachers. The club won sweep- stakes at the Pan American Fair, Apr. 22-241. Office Education of America QOEAQ members sold cookies, place mats, and candy to raise money for the annual employer-employee banquet. OEA members competed for a chance to attend the Area 11 OEA District Conferences in McAllen, Apr. 2-3, and then advance to state competition. Future Homemakers of America QFHAQ has three chap- ters, two regular chapters and one CVAE sub-chapter. FHA members participated in the County Youth Show and att- ended the FHA meeting at Kingsville, Mar. 6. The club also held a Halloween party for Wesley Manor residents. Six- teen Sub-chapter members sold candy apples, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, and Christmas yeast breads as fund raising projects. Also, they were hostesses for an enchilada dinner. Student Lifel27
