Classes-- When Weslaco lligh Sehoolls first class graduated, hack in 1922, some nine students received diplo- mas. When commencement came around in 1970, more than 250 students were candidates for gradua- tion. Weslaeols student body the first day of school reported to classes with shovels for the boys, and lunches for two for the girls, as students came prepared to clear an athletic field. When more than 900 students reported the first day of classes in the fall of 1969, they already had big stacks of hooks for four or five classes in a wide variety of subjects, and they knew that the attendance would build to more than l650 at the peak enrollment time. l6lClasses
