Front Leslie Balman Back Shelly Aldridge. Becky Crotinger. Bev Welsh With The Spirit The Weskan Cheerleaders traveled to Ft. Hays State University in Hays to attend the l6th annual Kansas NCA Su- per Star Cheerleading Clinic held June I7-20. Some 58 squads of cheerleaders from throughout Kansas and Nebraska attended this clinic sponsored by the National Cheerleading Association CNCAJ. The cheerleaders received instruc- tion in cheering techniques, pom-pon routines, tumbling. leadership, partner stunts and gymnastics. At the end of the each day. each squad was evaluated on their im- provement and performance of the skills stressed during the day by the NCA Staff, The Weskan Cheerleaders received 4 Superior ribbons and one Excellent ribbon during these evalua- tions. They also received a Spirit Stick each night and returned home with one. On the last day of the Clinic the NCA Staff selected five squads of the 58 squads attending to compete for the Award of Excellence. This award is given to the squad who represents the highest standards in Cheerleading set by the NCA. The Weskan Cheer- leaders competed against squads from Norwich. Ks., Beatrice, Nebr.i Spearville. Ks.: and Wichita. The squad from Wichita received this award.
