Throughout this year we have gained not only an education from books, but a better understanding of our fellow classmates. We don't pretend to have all the answers yet, for we realize we will have die opportunity to seek higher learning, and will be better qualified to cope with life. We are watching our new school stride forward and are very proud to be a part of this progress. We are indeed proud to be the first graduates of Wesclin Senior High! 15 16 17 18 FLOYD SCHUETZ JEANETTE PFEFFER Bewitched, Bothered, and It'll Be Me Bewildered DAVE REINHARDT Daddy Cool 19 20 WALTER VOLLET I'm Available 21 S. In Chicago, we stayed in the Hotel Maryland. We visited Chinatown, the Museum of Science and Industry, Riverview Amusement Park, Buckingham Fountain, and other places of interest. Everybody had a wonderful time! 57 (Jentavi- Section, Setia 'P'uyfrAeccf (Ae See P %t ' As we left New York on May 17, 1968, on our way to Paris, we boarded a Pan American Airliner. We were surprised to find that our charming stewardess for the trip was Dolores Cervenka. After we were seated and ready to leave, the pilot radioed back to tell us to fasten our seat belts. We recognized the voice as that of Carl Bopp.who decided that his black and white Ford was just too slow, so he took up flying as a career. As we landed in Paris,Jim Cryder.a redcap, took our luggage to the taxi. After a reckless ride through the streets of Paris with our cab driver--you’ve guessed it--Harold Bair, we arrived at the most exclusive hotel in Paris--the Le Moorleghen which is owned and operated by the one and only Chas.! While we were registering a good looking, black haired, bellhop whom we recognized as Dave Hechenberger carried our luggage to Room 58. We decided we would take a look at the city and its scenery, first of which was the famous Eiffel Tower. Our guide turned out to be David Reinhardt, who works here in his spare time. His bigger job, however, is being commissioner of roads and streets in Paris. After leaving the Tower, we strolled by a little sidewalk cafe which had a sign that read Poorbaugh Pizza --this certainly couldn't be French. No, we found the owner to be the former Martha Ballard. Her charming and efficient chef. James Baehr, prepared our meal--he is well-known all over France for his specialty, which is stuffed pigeon. Our meal was brought to us by a jolly waiter whom we know as Floyd Schuetz. Martha told us that Helen Macke was also in Paris. She is working on some paintings to be shown next month at the Art Museum in New York. The rest of the afternoon was spent on a sight-seeing bus driven by our boy himself. Bob Jung. Bob has just finished his fifth year of playing professional basketball with the St. Louis Hawks and spends the rest of the year working here in Paris. Upon leaving the bus we ran into three handsome sailors, who looked very familiar. Why, it was Butch Gramm, Gary Wehrle, and Eugene Eillison. They asked us to join them for cocktails and evening dinner at the flashiest night club in Paris--the Club Fritz. Curtis Fritz.owner and multi-millionaire of France joined us for dinner. Curt decided that there wasn't enough excitement in New Baden so he moved to France. As we ate we were serenaded by the music of th t outstanding artist of them all. Not Elvis or Fats-- but the one and only Walter Vollet and his violin. After all the fine dinner we were waiting for the floor show to begin when we heard a familiar voice say, Would you care for a Cigarette? We looked up in surprise and saw Caro. Bassler with a tray full of cigarettes. Just then the floor show began and we saw another familiar face when the M. C. turned out to be Dave Kurtz. He announced the spectacular dancing duet of the stars June Bassler and Cynthia Pfeiffer. After their dance was over we listened to one of the most popular voices around singing a current song. No--it was not Sophia Tucker. It was our own all-around girl. Mary Middendorff. The remainder of the evening was spent dancing to the music of Johnny Darnstaedt and his orchestra. When we returned to our hotel still looking for more excitement, we called for room service and were served by Mary L. Thuenemann, who told us that our old schoolmates BillKunz and Jeanette Pfeffer were honeymooning in Paris and were occupying the bridal suite of this same hotel. We decided to turn on T.V. and catch up on the latest news. We were very much surprised and pleased to find two more of the class of '58 in the news. One of them being Earlene Graul who had just received her Doctors Degree in Medicine from Oxford University. The other one making headlines was Letty Kunz who won the Olympic Championship in Tennis. After all the excitement of seeing old friends, we were sure there could be no more and so we retired for the night. Of course the next morning when we awoke, we found that all this had just been a dream and the Seniors of Wesclin had not yet become quite so famous. But in the future we are sure that this dream and even more will come true for them. 60 Senccyt TiSM I, Floyd (Bot Pettit) Schuetz, will my good times at Mart's parties and my trips out to the Flamingo Club to Allen Schomaker.
