Meet THE CHIEFTA IN We are proud to present it to you. It is the successor to the n0ctagonH,the name of the annual when W. H. S.occu- pied the eight-sided building located along the highway, a name which would not be applicable to our present home. To find a more appropriate name a cm? test was conducted by the seniors o- pen to all students of W. H. S. Since we are known throughout the county as the NRedskinsW, the idea of an Indian name suggested itself, and many poss- ible titles were submitted -Warrior, Brave, Tom-Tom, Lenape, Squaw,Wigwam, Tomahawk, and of course The Chieftaiq which became the name by vote of the entire student body. To Gerald Speidr er, of the Junior class, goes the lst. copy of WThe Chieftaidg as his prize for submitting the winning name. We hope that you will like the name , and that it will be an inspiration to all Wernersville High for many years to come.
