As the misty clouds of the morning yield to the penetrating rays of the sun, so do I unveil the mystic quests which each one of you will some day attain.May what I disclose to you now serve as a challenge, so that the re- alization of my prophecy will bring you much happiness and good, in a life filled with bewitching star dust and framed in silver, the ghost silver of the milky way. Gazing now into time to come, I see eighteen silvery rays, every ray a brilliance of light, and each ray proclaiming the achieve- ments of some member of the class of 1954 each lighting the way through a glorious future - as bright as the sun and as dazzling as the moon. The first ray lights up an operating room glaring lights, white uniforms, and tense moments. I see IRENE EENSING, scalpel in her hand, performing once again a surgical miracle. Here, amid shout and cheer, a lovely actress has again brought NThe Great White Wayn to tears. She is ELAINE REESE , whose opening at the Plaza is crowned with garlands of roses and an effulgence of kisses. I see in the same scene DAWN GRETH tears streaming down her face, as she clutches in her hand her fulitzer Prize novel,HMy Browns- ville Storyn. A new ray calls me quickly to a scene where I find death itself defied by the all-time great the world-renowned, widely-proclaimed stock car racer,WILMOT EINKLEY. In a flash he zooms out of sight, enabling me to see further into the whirl- pool of time. Ah, now to my ears come the spashing sounds of the waves. I turn to see a head draw near over the surface, and, yes, she's done it again, the diving championship title remains hers- the Queen of the Board, Miss CONNIE FOCHT. Just a moment, and it is gone but another triumph is revealed to my eyes, Navy Nurse, JOAN LUTZ, who under oath has become the first woman commander of the Bumperbug Fleet patrolling the Aleutian waters. The next ray penetrates deeper into the depths of time and lights up for me a shady glen sheltering a little red school house. The scene is so calm and serene, so like the sweet little grey-haired lady who teaches there. Yes, it is SHIRLEY MILLER, laughing gaily and happily teaching her charges. Time has been kind to her for her smile is still charming and there is the same old twinkle in her eyes. But now I must make my way to another scene this one full of adventure and daring, for under the superb leadership of CURT STAUDT a group of Navy Frogmen are at work, their orders, N Find that octopus0.What a nerve-wrecking task, too bad I cannot stav to witness the results, but another ray of light is calling le. Lo before me a mighty throng of cheering fans, and over home goes CALLIE CKINGD BROSSMAN, the season's leading home run slugger in the American League. Quite a star, that boy, but now that stimu- lating scene recedes into the background and a new one appears . This time I see a silver bird of the skies, a new super-colossal Jet airliner with DAWN REITZ as its smiling hostess. But, oh,who

is this tall, handsome figure advancing toward the speaker's plat- form in a session of Congress. Of course, it is CLIFFORD LENGEL a magnificent statesman from Pennsylvania. How I would like to watch this thrilling scene and hear his deep, rich voice once again, but I am forced to go because another ray dispels the enveloping cloud and I see now the occasion of a grand opening of the largest, most exclusive restaurant in New York City,WW1th or Without Roomn. Yes, the one and only dish featured is Italian Sandwiches, prepared by the proprietress herself, M LROSE KEPPLEY. They look tasty too,but I must venture deep into the frozen lands of the far North where a lone observatory stands on the frozen tundra, and the sole man in- side is none other than Professor STEWART DREIBELBIS now studying the effects of the Arctic moon on a little snow creature the moon bug of the Arctic. A quick Jump, and here I am in an exclusive Pa- risian dress shop, and into the salon steps BARBARA GROH, head de- signer for an exclusive American firm and now in Paris to find out what the fashion capital of the world has in store for milady. Now my eyes focus upon a most beautiful home, the Kindt mansion close beside the banks of Boulder Lake. On its sweeping lawn two lovely, hagpy children play under the watchful eye of one whom we knew as FR NCES WENRICHg we remember her wedding a few years back. Once a- gain the sound of music and gayety comes to me, and I see a parade coming toward me, a military spectacle, for it is the Waves of the United States and in their lead with a proud and determined step marches COLLETTE RUTH, lovely in her navy blue. The mists now dis- pel to show a woman pro basketball star, sinking the winning point as the buzzer sounds the end of the game. Of course she is the top sharp shooter of the country, BETTY WARTLUFT, better known afar as nbutchn. As I leave this scene the last rays of light come into my vision and the first of these reveals success upon success. For I now tell you that WILLIAM MATHEWS has finally through hard work,in spite of much adverse criticism, reached his ultimate goal, Presi- dency of the United States Steel Corporat1on.0nly one more ray for us to follow, and this ray shows us our Alma Mater, ever wonderful and ever sending out young men and women into successful careers. Now the way grows dim and twilight shadows fall, night closes upon me, and all the rays have disappeared only to return again as you members of the Class of 1954 venture into the sea of life beneath a heaven of limitless power toward the horizon of boundless honor. May this, the prophecy of 1954, foretell much joy and prosperity! sag as e
