De dica tion For his 35 years of unselfish service to the Wentzville community and school district, we are proud to dedicate ou.r 1978 Pow Wow to Dr. W.E. Borgesen. Dr. Borgesen started in 1944 as a football team physician, who attended every home and away game for 30 years up to 1974. He also was involved with the construction of Soby Field, in memory of his close friend Sgt. Herbert L. Sobolewski. He is a charter member of the Rotary Club and served on the school board up to 1956 . Visiting the high school Dr. Borgesen talks with Mrs. Freda Swemam and Mrs. Madelyn Hopper, the school librarians. Admiring the plaque dedi- cated to Sgt. Sobolewski are Mary Novak and Tim Kilby. Dr. Borgesen also explains the importance of Sgt. Sobolewski's work to Greg Miller, Michelle Martin, Angela Davenport and Ben Dasal. Wrapping up his visit he chats with Coach Dennis Graser about the football scene . is . W We qf Clubs Sports Page 25 People Page 85 Page 49 Advertising Page 157 m 1 A B Y - uv 5. We ff WW fig? In the pep assembly that started Homecoming week Mrs. Karen Hull and Mr. Gale Lane were re- luctantly persuaded to become ta- bles, but fast action by Mrs. Hull saved Mr. Lane from the glass of water balanced on his back. The parade was postponed by rain until the following Friday. Luckily the sun did shine allowing the sophomore class to take first in the float competiton. October 7, the game was played against Festus as planned, even though the rainy weather took its toll. After Dave Long recovered a fumble in the end zone , Eric Bradford made the only touchdown giving us a 7-O victory. 1 , fw . ,3 3, . , .,,1,,.,...,.,k.,.,V :V H - - 4- M-,...1f11. 2, , -.efz,,f...,f,- N W 14 ,k,b K fzr '.,. Varsity ootball The 1977 Indian Football team finished the season with a 5-4 record, the first winning season in three years. Led by senior co- captains Don Faron and Mark Grimslid, the varsity Indians were an exciting team to watch, both offensively and defensively. Senior quarterback Pete Newbold sparked the offense by throwing nine TD passes, seven going to senior split end Dan Boxell. Boxell led the team in touchdowns and pass receptions, with eight and eighteen respectively. jtmior running back Eric Bradford and senior fullback Mark Grimslid combined for over 970 yards rushing. A tough Indian defense which was led by many key seniors did not allow one TD pass all season. Leading tacklexs on the team were sophomore linebacker jack Grubbs, senior end Mike juern and senior safety Dan Boxell, who also led the team with three pass interceptions.
