Twcmy-six y«an of dedication, persistence, and professionalism have marked the Long and fruitful tenure of one of ihe most beloved of Weniworih Military Academy ' s faculty. To many, he is known, simply as Bear or Yogi - Major Paul Buthents. He has seen countless numbers of cadets, from all walks of life, pass thnmgb the white columns of Wentworih Military Academy, and he has touched the lives of each and every person Ite met, whether it be with his keen sense of humor or his easygoing manner. He worked as the recruiter for Oklahoma and Missouri, he taught drivert edocatioQ and mechanical drawing, as well as Mog the bead football coach, and the athletic dkiBBtar» Mdi iiMMtt eoot Mfli l thoattfatte and junior college. Early in the 1983-84 school year, bear ' suffditd ' a severe stroke. His illness shook the Wentworth Military Academy society - cadets, faculty, and especially, the football team, who were in dlib iiiillffii W IttQ fMMii. fl was as if a block in the foundation of the school had been removed. He has almost totally recovered now, and although he is no longer able to be here everydi vM itilinds sporting events when he dtn. His kmg, hard irtruggle to recover, and his persistence and determinatkm have mi0i W- tt dliK lesson: Persistence and determination, no matter how hard you have to work and no matter what the obstacle, you can do anything you set out to do. Throughout his recovery, he has been accompanied by the prayers and thoughts of this school and all of his friends.
