It has an indoor track, basketball courts, wrestling and weight rooms, a racketball court and a swim- ming pool. There is also a room where karate and firing activi- ties lake place. Becau.se the field house is so big. sometimes the baseball coach holds ba- seball practice there. Outside there are ten tennis courts, a football stadium, soccer and drill field, practice field and track. Because of these facilities many cadets have been able to become physically fit as well as enjoy competition at varsity level. Two poinu. The military teaches first aid. map reading, survival, and rappclling. These Ihingb are helpful even to cadets who don ' t plan to go into the service. They will be able to save someone ' s life, or to get out of the wiKxls if the arc lost, build a fire and get the wood for it Cadets also learn how to give speeches and teach lessons. Included in the plans arc a new barracks, a band room, a nine point rifle range with arms and supply rooms, and military and admin- istrative ofTiccs to be located within the shell. 1980 was the year that Wcntworth Military Academy was listed on the National Register of Historic Sites, a nice lOOlh birthday present. WMA is proud of its past and looking forward to the future.
