ALISTHENICS play an Important role in the physica education of Cadet Hartan. No effort is made to Indulge in this or any other exercise in the early morn- ing hours when the body is at Its lowest ebb. All such e«ercises are taken by our cadet after a hearty breakfast and morning dosses. The eiercises are intended to promote graceful movement as wall as better health, The calisthenics used by the United States Army are followed. They are ' ed by senior cadet officers. So long as the weather permits, the calisthenics are held in the open, but they ere taken in the large gymnasium, where an entire battalion may take part at the same time, when rain or cold it in the air. •Tht ten «ucel- lent tennis courts r» ahwjl popu- lar.

Har- lan makes his way to a small class on his schedule where personal attention is his at any time it is needed Our cadet is carefully instructed in the handling of deli, cate scientific equipment. He is not forced to grope blindly for information. That which is true of the science laboratories is equally true in all other classrooms. Time passes raoid ' v in the classroom or laboratory because the work is interesting. The scholastic day is divided into two equa parts, with four clesses in the morning and two In the afternoon.

He, with hit entire battalion, it thoroughly schooled in good citiienship. taught ♦he p-oper respect for superiors and trained in leadership. Learning to drill a sguad is the first training in leadership. Throughout the year squad drill ana competition is a part of the regular military routine. The squad is the smallest military unit and con sish of nine to twelve men. two of whom are sergeants. All instruction is conducted by cadets under the persona! supervision of members of the military faculty. Although military work takes but one Hour each day. the training is intensive and much more thorough than that found in larger units. Persona ' attention is given the individue 1 cadet on the military field as well as In the classroom, and each cadet has an equal chance to advance to imoort- ant positions in Wentworth ' s military realm. In the army the navy and the marine corps Wentworth it glorf ed by its alumni who have received their commissions and are distinguishing themselves in officia ' capacities of these respective branches of service
