If is on fhe drill field fhaf Harlan learns much of courfesy, discipline and alerfness. l-le, wifh his enfire baffalion, is fhoroughly schooled in good cifizenship, laugh? fhe proper respecf for superiors and frained in leadership. Learning fo drill a squad is fhe firsf fraining in leadership. Throughouf fhe year squad drill and compefifion is a parf of fhe regular milifary roufine. The squad is fhe smallesf milifary unif and con- sisfs of nine men. one of whom is a corporal and anofher a firsf class privafe. All insfrucfion is con- ducfed by cadefs under fhe personal supervision of members of fhe milifary faculfy. Alfhough milifary work falces buf one hour each day, fhe fraining is infensive and much more fhorough fhan fhaf found in larger unifs. Personal affenfion is given fhe individual cadef on fhe milifary field as well as in fhe classroom, and each cadef has an equal chance fo advance fo imporf- anf posifions in Wenfworfh's milifary realm. ln fhe army, fhe navy and fhe marine corps Wenfworfh is glorified by ifs alumni who have received fheir commissions and are disfinguishing fhemselves in official capacifies of fhese respecfive branches of service.
