For nearly three-scene yaer  Colonel Sandford S le(t WAS president of Wentworth. He en iiyw) OM of the most enviable records in the history ol American education. Tho Academy was fcundod by Stephen G. Wentworth, scion of a distinguished English family and a prominent Lexington baniier, in 18 , at a memonel to kit deceased ton, Wifliem Wentworth. Mr. Wentworth immediately vested control of the institution in the hands of a board of trustees composed of a duly elected representative of each of the Evangelical churches of Lexington, end e president.
