WENITECH The purpose of the WENITECH this past year was two- fold. It served as a medium of expression for literary minded students and it served to keep all students well informed as to the academic, social and athletic activities at Wentworth Institute. The WENITECH informed the Wentworth Student of school events by keeping in constant communication with various technical, cultural, and hobby club activities. One could always find roving reporters checking upon the latest happenings in and around the campus grounds. The staff and faculty advisors were forever busy furnishing material to meet the deadline and satisfy the avid reader. Photography was an important asset to the newspaper. During activity periods one would often find john Fay or Bill Jezak visiting hobby clubs for noteworthy pictures. FROM THE EDITOR brought into focus timely ideas of concern to the reader. As sports writer, Carmen Repucci did an excellent job covering current activities in basketball and bowling. The Wentworth Rifle Team was covered by Malcolm Hubbard. Malcolm also gave the paper an ex- tremely informative article on the new punch card system of grading introduced this past year at Wentworth Institute. The Center Page, which goes into every edition during Open House at Wentworth Institute was originated jointly by the entire staff. However, final credit for its layout must go to Steve Griller and james Menditto. WENITECH's editor-in-chief for 1965 was Stephen T. Bastian who devoted his spare time to rewriting and to the coverage of social and hobby club activities. News of happenings in Student Council was ably covered by Robert LeBlanc. Robert Caprignds Hair for the humor- ous, yielded many cartoons depicting timely jokes around the Wentworth Institute campus. Indefatigable workers, who always corrected grammatical phrases when deadline time ran out, were Mr. Philip Talbot and Mt. Richard Paris, faculty advisors for the WENI- TECH, who kept the spark going in the spirited staff. TEKTON The 1965 yearbook is a product of the entire student body, even though it was put to- gether by a handful of students. These students varied in both education and tastes. Because of these differences, we have many ideas and as many more ideas were brought forth which we were not able to use. The basic theme of the book and the ideas presented are centered around the student body. With you, the student, in mind, the TEKTON Staff set out gathering information, photographs, quips, new designs, and most important, new ideas. After the gathering was completed, a comprehensive account of the 1965 graduating class was put between two covers and called the TEKTON. No yearbook is perfect, for a perfect yearbook would include the experiences of each individual student. This we all know is impossible. Each of you should be able to recall both happy and sad times at Vfentworth. This is the main purpose of any yearbook and we feel that we have successfully accomplished this. The book presents the history of each class in the form of photographs. These pictures were taken by each of you. For this reason, your ideas appear as you want them. The form of the TEKTON is simple. The lines of the book are sharp and clear. In this simplicity lies the main idea behind each layout. The TEKTON Staff felt that if this was accomplished the book would have more meaning and be easier for the student to follow. The TEKTON would not have its present form were it not for the competent and will- ing assistance of our advisors, Mr. Rooney and Mr. Fine, who gave freely of their time to insure the success of your yearbook.

IEEE In 1963, two of the world's largest professional organizations, The Institute of Radio Engineers and American Institute of Electrical Engineers, formu- lated plans for the merger of their groups. The out- growth of this merger is now one uniied professional organization know as The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The Wentworth Student Associate Branch Chapter of the IEEE offers the student the opportunity of joining this organization and participating with other students both here and at other schools, in the ac- tivities of the local and national programs sponsored by the main organization. These activities include such things as oratory contests, original paper con- tests, outstanding student contests, scholarship con- tests, lecture series etc. The affiliation of a student with this organization also provides him with possibly his first contact with a professional group in his Held of study and tends to introduce the student to the various phases of professional application and their language. All students at Wentworth are eligible for mem- bership in the student chapter and upon graduation automatically become full members of the National IEEE organization. Student membership dues are 35.00 per year, for which the student receives an IEEE pin and various monthly publications. Meetings are held during the year during the regular activities periods.
